During pilot training, I realized a disconnect exists in how aircraft systems are taught. Flight Instructors are attempting to teach students complex systems using old diagrams in textbooks.
As an engineering student, I wanted to solve this problem. Learning shouldn’t be made more difficult; 3D models are the way to teach complex 3D systems. With the understanding that a new approach is necessary, I designed and prototyped engine models and continue to expand the models.
As anyone in general aviation knows, safety is everything, always. I hope that my models will improve systems understanding and increase safety. Understanding is the first step in problem solving.
I’m a private pilot with experience flying in Southern California, Florida, and New England. I’m currently studying Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Olin College of Engineering in Needham, MA.
